Band 3, SCP 6-11, £21,968-£24,054 per annum pro-rate to hours & Term Time only
Actual Salary - £7575 based on 15 hours per week
Mon – Fri 7.45am – 9.00am and 3.00pm – 5.45pm
15-20 hours per week, Term Time, 38 weeks per year

Pictor Academy is an outstanding school held in high regard both locally and nationally. The school is for children aged 2 - 11 with special educational needs arising from various conditions. A large proportion of the population are children with autism. This means that they have difficulties communicating and interacting with others. They will also have difficulties with play and imagination.
Pictor Academy wishes to appoint an enthusiastic, honest, reliable and hard-working Play Worker to work within our Before and After School Club providing out of hours care for 4-11 year olds.
The ideal individual will be creative, energetic and able to engage children aged 4 – 11 years old with a range of abilities including those with Special Educational Needs.
You will be able to organise and develop interactive activities for the children. You will be able to provide a calm and safe atmosphere for the children to play.
The successful candidate will be friendly, have good communication skills as well as the ability to adapt their approach to suit the needs and different personalities of the children. In addition, you will be able to:
- Assist in the planning of and preparing and carrying out a range of stimulating activities with children, both indoors and outdoors.
- Setting out and packing away equipment and resources.
- Preparing breakfast in line with food hygiene standards.
- Exhibit a calm and reassuring manner
- Be passionate about making a difference to every child.
- Value a team working approach and be keen to contribute and share your skills with colleagues.
- Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, able to build on and maintain strong relationships with staff, parents and carers, children, governors and the local and wider community.
- Be punctual and reliable.
- References confirming suitability for role * Enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service
- Continual professional development through online training
You must understand the varied needs of children and their families and ensure that they are cared for in a safe and nurturing environment. You should be able to demonstrate good literacy and numeracy skills for accurate record keeping and be able to relate well to children and staff and interact with them in a friendly and positive manner.
The most important attribute however is that you are willing to have fun and enjoy working with children!
