About the Role
As part of the Responsible sourcing at ASOS, you will play an important part to deliver Fashion with Integrity by ensuring that all ASOS Third-party branded suppliers meet ASOS’ minimum requirements towards Ethical Trade, Chemical compliance, Animal welfare and Sustainability.
The Branded Engagement Junior partner oversees and takes responsibility for the pre-onboarding due diligence, life-cycle management and responsible exit of ASOS’ Partner Brands and helps manage the Branded Engagement team to provide expert social and environmental sustainability knowledge, and guidance, to ASOS’ commercial branded buying teams and 900+ partner brands.
You will be a leading member of the Branded Engagement department working alongside the wider responsible sourcing, Corporate responsibility, and commercial teams.
What You’ll be Doing
ESG Risk, policy, and strategic governance
- Works closely with Ethical, Sustainable, chemical compliance and commercial functions to support brands in line with ASOS strategy
- Supports the head of Branded engagement to deliver the Branded engagement strategy against short, medium- and long-term objectives
- Works in collaboration with internal teams to implement and progress policy and best practises towards:
- Sustainability team in relation to environmental impact, more sustainable materials & product claims, carbon emissions, animal welfare and chemical compliance
- Ethical trade partners across key industry topics including, but not limited to, Human rights, Modern Slavery, and purchasing practices
- Takes a lead role in the development and delivery of an industry appropriate approach towards the ethical and environmental due diligence requirements of all non-clothing brands including Face & Body
- Oversees and takes responsibility for the day-to-day management of the onboarding, life cycle and responsible exit of Partner Brands ensuring onboarding lead time KPIs are met, cascading any issues to Head of Branded Engagement
- Works closely with Ethical, Sustainable, chemical compliance and commercial functions to support brands in line with ASOS strategy
- Supports the delivery of FWI KPIs for Third-party brands
Stakeholder Management
- Reviews current processes and ways of working both within own team and cross functionally to drive end to end agility and efficiencies
- Supports the branded annual review process and appropriate action where necessary for any brands who fail to meet ASOS’ minimum requirements
- Works with brands to ensure alignment to ASOS Third-party brand Ethical code of conduct and modern slavery act
- Oversees the collation and reporting of Product and Supply Chain sustainability data from brands
- Oversees the development and delivery of internal and external training programmes, tools, guides and communications to help upskill commercial teams and Brands. Including the FWI learning hub
- Works with the Branded Engagement assistant to develop the FWI learning hub and resources
- Develops external training and workshops for branded partners
- Keeps abreast of industry trends and legislative requirements in ASOS operating territories
- Supports requests for product sustainability claims, working closely with commercial teams, brand partners, marketing and legal to ensure that the necessary criteria are met, and evidence is shared and verified
- Manages the day-to-day activities of the Branded Engagement Assistant and Admin, providing coaching and mentorship
Who We’d Like to Meet
- Knowledge about UK, EU and Global Social and environmental legislation
- Passionate about Human rights and sustainability
- Excellent analytical, problem solving, research and investigation skills
- PC advanced skills including Microsoft Office, Data Base systems with advanced / proficiency skills in Excel
- Exceptional communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to communicate with stakeholders all levels
- Strong organisational skills and data management
- Ability to multi-task and work at pace
- Collaborative, team player who enjoys networking and building relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience managing and developing a team
Desirable
- Knowledge and experience in carbon reporting
- Experience in a retail environment within a Sustainability or Ethical Trade role
- Knowledge on Environmental management and compliance
- A degree in Human rights, Environmental Sciences, or environmental management or similar
