We are at a pivotal moment: the climate and biodiversity crises are deepening, and inequalities are even more marked in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic. The global investment system has an oversized impact on many of these global challenges. We want to make sure that impact is positive. At ShareAction we work with investors, policymakers and individuals to unleash the positive potential of the investment system. We aim to build a world where our financial system serves our planet and its people.
Team
Smart, powerful communications are a cornerstone of ShareAction’s theory of change. Our dynamic and high-performing communications team leads media and digital activity for the organisation, in order to inspire public and specialist audiences to support more responsible investment. The team is also responsible for shaping ShareAction’s brand, raising its profile and increasing its engagement and influence.
Position
This is an exciting new role within ShareAction’s growing communications team, to support the organisation to deliver its ambitious new strategy. The Brand and Communications Manager will enable ShareAction to take a more proactive approach to building its brand and demonstrating its impact. We’re looking for a great communicator with experience of developing brand identity and brand activity, who is passionate about our mission to harness the power of investment to build a better world. You’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring consistency and quality across the organisation’s outputs, from developing core scripts for key areas of work to refreshing and socialising our brand toolkit, and will work with colleagues to develop audience insights and supporter journeys. You’ll also line manage the Events Senior Officer, supporting them to develop a proactive plan to coordinate and maximise ShareAction’s impact at conferences and events.
What you’ll do
- Be a brand champion, by setting brand identity and brand story and working with the Head of Communications to set brand objectives.
- Update ShareAction’s brand toolkit, tone of voice guidelines and other resources. Socialise these with colleagues through regular training, so they can implement them with confidence.
- Develop and keep updated core scripts for key areas of ShareAction’s work, to ensure consistent and compelling messaging that can resonate with a wide audience.
- Develop activity to ensure ShareAction is showcasing its impact to public and specialist audiences, for example through a brand video, success stories for our website and an annual impact report for funders, in collaboration with colleagues.
- Contribute to the directorate’s work to deepen our understanding of our public and specialist audiences, as part of developing effective supporter journeys.
- Line manage the Events Senior Officer, supporting them to develop a proactive plan to coordinate and maximise ShareAction’s profile and impact at conferences.
- Practice our values of independence, courage, persistence, respect, and inclusivity.
- Keep up with trends in brand and charity comms, to help ShareAction stay relevant and to innovate.
Please note this list isn’t exhaustive and the role might change slightly from time to time.
Requirements
Essential experience
- Outstanding writing skills, with a flair for breaking down complex issues to produce compelling and accessible content.
- Experience of developing brand identity and branded content to support organisational goals.
- Ability to project manage multiple tasks, changing priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal skills with ability to work as part of a team and across teams.
It would be great – not essential – if you have experience of:
- Experience working for a charity, or on social or environmental issues.
- Line management experience.
What we will do for you
Working with ShareAction will offer you the opportunity to achieve significant personal impact in one of the most respected and exciting organisations in the responsible investment space.
ShareAction seeks to offer all its employees an exceptional working experience with opportunities to develop existing and new skills, applying them in ways that help change the world for the better. You will be challenged but also supported very actively to succeed within a friendly, high performing and highly motivated team.
We commit to
- Supporting you to be able to continue to grow your experience and give you space to try new and innovative ideas and approaches;
- Offering you formal training to build up your skill set (as identified with your manager) and time to conduct informal training;
- Providing a flexible working environment – including options to work from home and compressed hours;
- Providing opportunities to attend, and play a key role in, meetings with high profile stakeholders from across the public health, corporate and investment sectors.
