Early Years Specialist
£38,000 per annum
Full-time (37 Hours Per Week)
Better Start Bradford is funded by The National Lottery Community Fund until March 2025 to help children in Bowling and Barkerend, Bradford Moor and Little Horton get the best start in life.
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a unique programme aimed at improving the life chances of children aged 0-3 by demonstrating what works in Bradford.
They deliver over 15 projects for expectant families and families with children aged 0-3, including support before, during and after birth, reading, play, healthy cooking and eating and English language skills.

Job details:
To take a strategic lead for the early years function within the Better Start Bradford programme.
Working with partners and stakeholders from across the district to advise, develop and influence areas within early years practice, drawing on the learning from our Programme.
Supporting the creation of a preventative, integrated, evidence-based and sustainable offer for families with babies and children under four.
Specific responsibilities:
- Build and strengthen strategic partnerships between Better Start Bradford and partners in the district in relation to child development. Communicate the vision for Better Start Bradford to create sustainable change.
- Provide specialist expertise and strategic support and influence in the design of district wide early years services, including the Start for Life and Family Hub Offer; Early Years Play and Learn; and with Statutory, Private and Voluntary Community Sector providers.
- Describe and promote the importance of prevention and early intervention within the wider system.
- Contribute to relevant discussions and strategic plans around the importance of the home learning environment, and early years education.
- Provide specialist input in early years across the Better Start Bradford programme Including advising the team on the latest research and policy in early childhood development.
- Contribute to the development of innovative strategic areas to include Adversity, Trauma and Resilience (ATR) Strategy, Speech and Language Pathway and Sleep pathway development.
- Provide child development knowledge and expertise in contributing to the Better Start Bradford response to national strategies and writing of Insight papers.
- Identifying barriers to change and developing ways to overcome them.
