Job description
IATSE Local 118 is the labour union for the Lower Mainland representing technicians, stagehands, artisans and craftspeople in the entertainment industry, including live theatre, rock and roll, trade shows, and conventions.
Work environment is a casual, small, centrally located union office in Vancouver with 3-5 regular staff. The office is located on a major bus route and there is free street parking available.
Hours: approximately 6-8 hours per week - fluctuates depending on the number of members working
Hours of work: flexible
Requirements:
Completion of secondary school. Completion of a college program in accounting, bookkeeping or a related field, or completion of other related programs or combination of courses and experience.
Experience in Microsoft Excel and QuickBooks essential.
Must be an independent self-starter, with a high standard of ethics and confidentiality to handle sensitive personal information.
Must be competent in written and spoken English. Attention to detail and high degree of accuracy essential.
Job Duties:
Perform data entry in Excel spreadsheets.
Keep financial records and establish, maintain and balance various accounts using manual and computerized bookkeeping systems. Accounting software is QuickBooks.
Post journal entries and reconcile accounts, prepare trial balance of books, maintain general ledgers and prepare financial statements.
Prepare financial records for annual audit.
Remuneration: $22-$25/ hour with the addition of benefits after 3-month probationary period.
