Job description
Fenwick Smith House – Boys Boarding Aged 15 – 18
Pocklington is an excellent and thriving co-educational independent school 12 miles east of York, providing day and boarding education.
As the senior resident staff member of a boarding house you will be responsible for: providing a secure and stimulating environment for boys in which they can flourish; implementing the school’s boarding principles; and providing counsel and care to our boarders in respect of any emotional, academic or social issues they may have.
You should have a good standard of education, up to at least A-Level (or equivalent), and significant experience of working within a boarding setting and providing pastoral support to students, ideally within the 15-18 age range. You will be a motivational leader, passionate about boarding and dedicated to the pastoral welfare of children. You will possess confident communication, diplomacy and organisational skills. Higher education and Boarding Schools’ Association qualifications are desirable but not essential.
You must be able to be flexible with your working hours as during term time the boarding house is covered on a rota basis and you must be able to respond to the needs of the students as required. This is a term time only role and attracts a full time competitive annual salary (dependent upon experience). There could be the opportunity to combine this role with a teaching commitment where a time and monetary allowance will apply.
