Board Chair appointment: NHS Fife
Scottish Ministers are looking to appoint a new Chair to Fife NHS Board.
This is an exciting time to take on this important and challenging leadership role, which not only offers the opportunity to make a difference to the people in Fife, but also to contribute to the wider NHS in Scotland. You will play a role in supporting the recovery and reform of our NHS services following the significant impact the Covid-19 pandemic has had on society; as well as supporting innovation and developing sustainable services with high quality, person centred, safe and effective care firmly at the heart of our strategic plans.
A large rural area with varied geography and several centres of population, NHS Fife is tasked with delivering high quality person-centred care whilst improving the overall health and wellbeing of the people of Fife.
You will be accountable to Scottish Ministers for leading the Board, comprising non-executive and executive members, which will improve, sustain and protect the health of people across the local population. This is a demanding but fulfilling role, and if you think you have what it takes, we would like to hear from you.

Remuneration and time commitment: You will be paid an annual remuneration of £33,351 (non-pensionable) for a time commitment of three days per week. Reasonable expenses incurred will be reimbursed.
Assessment Process: Assessment will happen in two stages. The first stage will be your written application. The panel will consider the evidence provided at this application stage and the applicants who most closely meet the requirements being sought will be invited to the final assessment stage. The final stage of assessment will have various elements, comprising of:
- work skills in action exercise – a situational role-play;
- verbal presentation on a topic that will be notified to you in advance; and
- a structured interview with both competency and values based questions.
The work skills in action exercise (role play) will take place on Wednesday 25 October 2023 and will be held virtually via MS Teams. Interviews will be held on Monday 30 October 2023 in St Andrew’s House, Edinburgh.
