Job description
The Leslie Brent Laboratory at Hammersmith Hospital, Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, is a small but busy laboratory providing a highly specialized Therapeutic Drug Monitoring (TDM) service, primarily to the Renal Directorate and Division of Medicine but also to other departments within the Trust and other hospitals.
The laboratory is UKAS accredited (Accreditation Number 9280) and supports approximately 170 renal and combined kidney/pancreatic transplants per year which includes a large live donor and ABO incompatible transplantation programs. Additionally, the laboratory supports the adult and paediatric bone marrow and adult liver transplantation programs within the Trust.
The laboratory has 3 HPLC-tandem mass spectrometry systems for TDM analysis measuring immunosuppressive/immunomodulatory drugs and anti-fungals. Additionally, there are ongoing clinical research programs.
We liaise closely with all members of the renal and transplantation team and the applicant will be encouraged to participate in method development in order to further expand our repertoire.
The post is full time (37.5 hours per week) with the core hours being 09:00 am to 5.00 pm Monday to Friday. The department is situated at Hammersmith Hospital.
To be an efficient flexible member of the Leslie Brent Laboratory providing a high quality service to Imperial College Healthcare Trust.
Maintain the required levels of laboratory safety and good laboratory practice, as specified in local and national guidelines.
Work with Healthcare Scientists in the provision of a comprehensive and effective Therapeutic Drug Monitoring Service for the Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, as directed by the Head of the Department.
Participate in the efficient handling, processing and analysis of samples in the laboratory, under supervision.
Maintain effective records of all activities and procedures, and to contribute towards the maintenance of the laboratory's quality system.
