Job description

Position Summary:

As the SBS Biomarker Laboratory Scientist at Scottish Brain Sciences, you will be responsible for running of the Roche Cobas e801 automated immunoassay analyser. SBS Biomarker laboratory analyses blood and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) samples for biomarkers related to diagnosing and monitoring Alzheimer’s disease and related neurodegenerative conditions.

In addition, you will be responsible for handling, separation and documentation of both CSF and blood samples from a variety of clinical and research studies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the following:

· Run a large multi-test, multi-sample automated auto-analyser.

· Handle and separate both CSF and blood samples according to specific clinical and research protocols.

· Document the sample information, analysis and biomarker results via laboratory information management system (LIMS).

· Provide quality control analysis according to national and international guidelines.

· Ensure laboratory Health & Safety protocols are maintained.

· Ensure that the company complies with all relevant regulations.

· Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education/Experience: The ideal candidate will offer:

· Degree or equivalent in biological sciences.

· Experience of using a large, automated analyser.

· Laboratory experience involving a variety of techniques, particularly immunoassay

· Experience in handling and separating blood and/or CSF samples.

· Ability to work within a small team.

Salary: £30,000.00-£36,000.00 per year
