Job description
Roche Diagnostics acquired Stratos Genomics (SBX Nanopore Sequencing) in 2020 for its novel Sequencing by eXpansion (SBX™) technology. SBX™ uses unique applications from chemistry, biochemistry, electrochemistry, and protein engineering to sequence DNA by nanopore in rapid time with high accuracy and low cost.
The role will be a laboratory position focused on developing and optimizing library preparation for our novel approach that has the potential to disrupt the industry and facilitate care that patients need. The right candidate is self-driven and highly motivated to help solve and simplify cross-functional complex problems. You will also have excellent communication skills and will remain flexible in a fast paced environment. Biochemistry is the hub that collaborates with all departments in the lab, putting them at the front lines for new and exciting results. The position is salaried with hours dependent on lab needs and project deadlines.
Please include a cover letter outlining why you want to work with us, your specific interest in our technology, and how you would contribute to our success.

Job Duties
Produce libraries for SBX sequencing. This includes both experimental and production libraries
Preparation of routine reagents and solutions
Update personal notebook, databases and tracking sheets as new lots are produced
Build databases as needed for tracking experimental and production intermediates
Work closely with the library and biochemistry teams - we make changes quickly and they need to be communicated effectively
Effectively communicate mistakes
Troubleshoot errant results
Assist junior team members with experimental design, data analysis as needed
Design and execute experiments, based on sound scientific hypotheses
Summarize data, and communicate results via emailed reports, and/or in presentations to various groups
Maintain contamination free lab spaces as you move through clean rooms to processing amplicon
The ideal candidate will continually look for ways to improve experimental workflows, data analysis, and SBX chemistry as a whole. This technology is in development so it’s critical to always improve and innovate
