(Turkish Speaking–and Kurdish speaking (Kurmanci) would be a great advantage)
Working Hours: Full time post (36hrs a week), but can be divided into two part-time posts depending on the applicants’ suitability/availability
Location: Derman office/health settings as well other venues in Hackney and neighbouring boroughs (if/when needed)
Reports to: Mental Health Service Manager
Salary: £30,715 – 32,815 (depending on experience)

We are a well-known community based charity in Hackney providing free health and social care services such as Counselling, Mental Health Recovery Support, Health Advocacy and Welfare Advice to the Kurdish, Turkish and Turkish Cypriot communities for over 30 years. You will be working as part of a dynamic highly skilled and experienced mental health team, with a dedicated service manager. The sessions will be provided from our office in Hackney, GP surgeries and other available settings across City and Hackney as well as neighbouring boroughs (if/when needed). We are looking to employ a counsellor who:
- Is qualified to Diploma level or above
- Eligible for BACP or similar accreditation
- Has a minimum of 2 years post qualification experience
- Has knowledge of the issues facing the Kurdish and Turkish communities in the UK
- Has experience of short-term counselling
- Has practical experience of working with a wide range of psychological problems.
- Ideally has experience of working with trauma/torture survivors
- Is competent, confident and caring
- Work independently as well as part of a team
