Job description
Our client, a major consulting firm with global presence is seeking a Developer with Power BI experience to build dashboards, visual reports and KPI (scorecards) from large data pools using DAX and SQL queries. This role is offered as a B2B contract engagement requiring that candidates operate as an incorporated entity in Canada.
Typical Duties
- Researches and evaluates data for the development, analysis, interpretation and reporting of performance indicators, internal benchmarking and opportunities for the client group
- Connecting to, importing, and transforming data for Business Intelligence, using customer sanctioned methods
- Convert raw data into meaningful insights through interactive and easy-to-understand dashboards and reports.
- Building and maintaining analysis service report models
- Using Power BI Desktop for developing dashboards, visual reports, and key performance indicator (KPI) scorecards
- Developing, scheduling, and publishing Power BI reports as per requirements
- creating DAX and SQL queries in Power BI Desktop
- Provide mentorship in Power BI dashboarding best practices
Deliverables
- Power BI Artifacts
- measures, data model, DAX and SQL queries, inline documentation of those queries, datasets, multi-tab dashboards
Must have demonstrated experience delivering business related output with Power BI as follows:
- Minimum of three (3) years experience using Power BI in data warehousing projects, and data preparation including:
- capable of handling project documentation and design methodology
- capable of developing dimensional and relational models that are compatible with warehouse standards
- Must be capable of understanding business requirements and data models while taking care of the sources
- Proficient in prototyping, designing, and requirement analysis
- Minimum of one (1) years’ current and contiguous experience designing, developing, publishing, and scheduling Power BI dashboards as per client requirements with demonstrated prior experience in:
- mapping data attributes to KPIs
- determining appropriate level of granularity
- creating measures (calculated columns) in Power BI
- creating Power BI data models
- Implementing advanced-level calculations on datasets in Power BI
- creating Data Analysis Expression (DAX) queries in Power BI Desktop
- Proficient in SQL. (Joins, Unions, Analytic Functions, Nested and Repeated Data, Writing efficient queries)
- Working knowledge of database concepts and data modelling with the ability to understand programming concepts.

- SQL-based queries
- Data Warehouse
- Azure Cloud platform

- ETL (SSIS, Informatica)
