As a result of our continued growth we're looking to increase our team of specialists and recruit a BI Developer (Junior/Graduate) to join us on our journey.
About the Role
The successful candidate should have a technical understanding of BI concepts and experience of working in a data-focused environment. A knowledge of third-party BI tools such as IBM Cognos Analytics and Microsoft Power BI would be advantageous, but full training will be provided where required.
The team you will be joining are responsible for the design, development, implementation and support of our BI offering, which many of our customers rely on to analyse and understand their operations in detail. It’s essential that you have good communications skills as you will be working closely with an established team of product owners, software developers and customer base.
Duties and Responsibilities
Develop content (reports, dashboards) for customers to meet their business needs
Provide support to colleagues in response to queries and issues
Investigate into and help resolve problems reported to the helpdesk
Provide implementation and post-implementation support
Deliver structured training/workshops on a one-on-one or classroom basis; on and off-site
Prepare and deliver targeted demonstrations of the BI capabilities and offerings
Test functional enhancements, new developments and configuration changes
To maintain the internal knowledge base for the BI solution(s); reporting requirements and report specifications, document processes and solutions
Work effectively with the technical teams to maintain and enhance the data warehouse; identifying new sources of information and translating requirements
To gain accreditations and qualifications as part of the support role in all areas of BI support
Design and model data that can be used by third party BI tools, to support self-service drag and drop data analysis and reporting; using IBM Cognos Framework Manager for example, and other equivalent third party tools
Assist with the implementations of BI, and lead campaigns to keep customer and internal environments up to date with supported releases
Providing out-of-hours support on a rota basis may be required
Any other duties as reasonably required by the Development Manager
Qualifications and Experience
Desirable for the role;
Some experience of working in a BI or data-driven environment; either as a user, developer or in a support role
Experience of tools such as IBM Cognos Analytics, Microsoft Power BI, Tableau
Proficient in the Microsoft suite; Word, Excel, PowerPoint
An understanding and ideally working knowledge of as many of the following;
Report and Dashboard development; i.e. content creation
ETL Processes/Tools
Data Warehouse concepts/Kimball methodology
Metadata layer creation
SQL

Logical thinker with good problem-solving skills
Able to work under pressure to deadlines
To be creative and have an eye for design and detail
Excellent inter-personal skills – able to quickly build a rapport at many levels
Capable of working independently, managing priorities and time
Understanding of project lifecycle principles and associated processes
Ability to work from written specifications and contribute to their content
Flexible attitude with the ability to react to changes and re-prioritise effectively
Experience of ESS’s Transport Management Solutions - possibly as an end user or in a support role

As we continue to support hybrid working some of our events are being reworked. Other Information
Full-time permanent role
5-Day-Week, Monday-Friday, 7.5 hrs per day
There will be times where the role will necessitate extra hours being worked in line with business needs
Occasional UK travel as required
Based in Altrincham, South Manchester
