We are seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented Senior Payroll, Benefits, and Compensation Specialist to join our dynamic HR team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the organization's payroll and benefits processes while also conducting compensation analysis to ensure competitive and fair pay practices. The ideal candidate possesses a strong background in payroll administration, benefits management, and compensation analysis, with a deep understanding of relevant laws, regulations, and best practices.
In this highly independent and autonomous role, you will own all monthly, quarterly, and annual payroll and benefits events and reporting, as well as the data integrity of our HRIS system (e.g., performing internal audit and control procedures to ensure that all wages, taxes, and benefit data are accurate).

- Oversee end-to-end payroll processing, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of payroll disbursements.
- Maintain employee payroll records, including deductions, garnishments, etc.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, such as HR, Finance, and Legal, to address payroll-related inquiries and resolve discrepancies.
- Stay updated on payroll laws, tax regulations, and compliance requirements to ensure accurate payroll processing.
- Partner with payroll vendor (ADP) on system enhancements, usage and support.
- Manage employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, leave management, and other voluntary benefits.
- Coordinate benefits enrollment, changes, and terminations in collaboration with HR and benefits providers.
- Manage employee communications and events surrounding employee benefits.
- Serve as the main point of contact for employees' benefits-related inquiries, providing guidance and assistance.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices to optimize benefits offerings and ensure competitiveness.
- Actively partner with the benefits broker.
- Assist with annual benefits negotiations and renewals making strategic recommendations for change based on analysis.
- Lead open enrollment.
- Conduct comprehensive compensation analysis to ensure internal equity and external market competitiveness.
- Collect and analyze compensation data, market surveys, and benchmarks to evaluate salary structures, pay ranges, and incentive programs.
- Collaborate with HR and management to review and recommend appropriate salary adjustments, promotions, and bonuses.
- Lead the annual merit process.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations related to payroll, benefits, and compensation.
- As needed, prepare, submit and troubleshoot required reports to regulatory authorities, such as tax filings, benefits disclosures, and government surveys.
- As needed, support audits and reviews related to payroll, benefits, and compensation data.
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee records, ensuring data privacy and security.
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Relevant certifications (e.g., CPP, CEBS) are a plus.
- Proven experience as a Senior Payroll, Benefits Specialist, preferably in a medium to large-sized organization serving 400 team members.
- Strong knowledge of payroll processing, tax regulations, benefits administration, and compensation practices.
- Proficiency in payroll software systems and HRIS platforms. Experience with ADP Workforce Now is highly desired.
- Analytical mindset with excellent attention to detail and the ability to interpret and analyze complex data sets.
- Solid understanding of employment laws, regulations, and compliance requirements, including FMLA, FLSA, ERISA, and other relevant legislation.
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with employees, managers, and external vendors.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
