Main Purpose
As the line manager for the Roster clerk team, the role will see you manage and lead your team to ensure rosters are delivered in a timely and accurate manner, taking into account business needs.
Employee engagement and the development of talent within the team is essential to the success of the roster department.
Business efficiencies and the stream lining of process will be an ongoing requirement of this role
You will ensure the Central Resources Office establish and maintain excellent working relationships with key stakeholders including Driver and Guards Management, Train Crew, Centre Managers, Duty Resource Managers, and other stakeholders within the Alliance.
Principal Accountabilities
- Ensure delivery of an efficient planned and real time rostering of traincrews
- Prepare and deliver efficient traincrew base rosters for timetable delivery assisting as required with union negotiations.
- Advise on strategic future development of rostering and traincrew utilisation.
- Continually seek options and opportunities for efficiencies in crew rostering and utilisation agreements
- The ability to interpret data which can be used for planning and guidance in management reports.
- Support and advise as required the Head of Drivers and Head of On-Train Service on complement calculations, union discussions and meetings as required
- The role requires the individual to work with key stakeholders to continually plan and shape future resourcing strategies to achieve the most efficient and effective utilisation of traincrew including disruption planning and resourcing.
- Inform decision on Traincrew rostering compliance and advice to Heads of departments on matters relating to the practical applications and compliance with the ORR guidelines on Fatigue and Risk Index on all company rostering matters.
- Lead on future processes and planning for company plans on days of industrial action
Minimum Requirements
- Proven track record in the understanding and delivery of traincrew rostering is essential.
- Prior knowledge and experience of traincrew terms and conditions and fatigue & risk index parameters within a railway environment
- Experience and a proven track record in dealings with the Trade Union
- Excellent communicator with interpersonal skills to match. A leader who has solid experience of leading multi disciplined teams
- Educated to A level standard or equivalent or with equivalent proven work experience.
- Good people management skills and leadership qualities are essential for the role.
- Handling of large data stores is essential along with a process driven approach.
- Proven track record in the understanding and delivery of traincrew rostering is essential

Working Pattern
Working an average of 37 hours per week over 5 days
Monday – Friday
