Fastmarkets was founded in 1913 (as Metal Bulletin) and is a privately held UK-registered company. It is owned by global private equity firm Astorg, a specialist investor in healthcare, software, technology, business services and technology-based industrial companies.


About the Role

Fastmarkets is working through a carve out M&A activity from its previous parent company, Delinian. Fastmarkets has legally separated and are now in the process of selecting and contracting with a Global HRIS provider & reviewing our global outsourced payroll provider(s). The team is standing up HR operations and payroll capabilities to cover 550 employees based across 9 countries. Our current jurisdictions include UK, US, Bulgaria, China, Singapore, Belgium, Finland, Brazil and Ukraine.

There is an exciting opportunity for a Senior HRIS Specialist to join the newly formed HR team. It is an ideal time to join as Fastmarkets embarks on the next phase of change, providing opportunity to become the SME in the new HR systems and support the organisation at an important and exciting moment of change.


The Senior HRIS Specialist will play a key role as part of the project team migrating Fastmarkets onto the HR and Payroll system(s), and then subsequently be responsible for providing the HRIS services and activities as we continue to streamline our processes globally.


Following completion of the implementation project, the emphasis for this role will switch to embedding and optimising the technology, through improving deployed processes, new modules and partnering with key stakeholders (i.e. IT, Finance, HR tech vendors and the broader business as needed).


An ideal candidate will have a minimum of 4 years of experience in a HR data or system analyst/consultant role and hold a bachelor's degree or other relevant qualification. Has recently taken on senior level system consultant analyst responsibilities.

Principle Accountabilities
1. System Implementation:


For the duration of our implementation project (through to mid-2023) work with the Tech HRIS Project Lead, Global Payroll Specialist and Head of HR Operations to:

  • Attend and contribute to system and process workshops to decide upon the system/service configuration.
  • Support the cleanse, preparation and loading of the data and documents into the new target HRIS and payroll systems. Following migration of the data support data validation.
  • Become the HRIS and Payroll system SME, supporting HR with process design, completing system configuration and functional testing.
  • Support creation of test scenarios for the system testing.
  • Support the cutover and go-live HRIS and Payroll systems.


2. HRIS and Process Development:

Following initial implementation, this role will remain responsible for the ongoing responsibilities:

  • Support the roll out of further system modules e.g Performance, Engagement, Compensation, KPI dashboard.
  • As the HR system super SME will support and provide advice to the HR team regarding correct and optimal utilisation of the system functionality.
  • Monitor and audit HR team, Manager, and Employee usage of the system to ensure best practice, data and process accuracy.
  • Responsible for the HR system configuration, functional testing and facilitating user testing where necessary, releasing changes in a controlled/managed approach.
  • Manage the operational vendor relationship for issues and future functionality rollout, working directly with the system providers.
  • Act as the operational link pin between IT and HR regarding process and technology
  • Staying abreast of HR system ‘functional’ updates:
  • review the optional and mandatory updates
  • work with HR to assess their business applicability and roadmap priority.
  • Work with HR to ensure that functionality is released/understood with the impacted users.
  • Work with the HR and payroll teams to ensure that HR system processes and data requirements that input to payroll are optimal and kept up to date with new requirements and improvements.
  • Work with key stakeholders to improve efficiency, deliver further automation and streamlining of processes. Automation projects to include: installation, customisation, development, maintenance and upgrades to applications, systems and modules. Update configuration, facilitate appropriate testing/validation and work with stakeholders to manage changes into the business.
  • Deliver HR system training and maintain self-help resources


3. HR Data, Reporting & Metrics:
  • Support the ongoing control and governance of people data, including highlighting new requirements not applicable to a HR system.
  • Partner with HR, Finance and the business as needed to develop and provide reports from the HR system that can be utilised for MI and operational reporting, monthly board reporting and ongoing ad-hoc reports as required.
  • Assist in ongoing development and automation of HR metrics reporting and timely completion

  • Experience working within a team deploying solutions for business requirements in HR systems through full lifecycle for an international organisation with circa 500-1000 people.
  • Has worked within project teams responsible for deliverables and has experience of managing small to medium sized projects.
  • Experienced and skilled at HR system configuration, functional testing, troubleshooting and issue resolution. Within context of one or more relevant HR systems, e.g. HiBob, Dayforce, Bamboo, Sage, Workday.
  • Prior experience supporting the HR inputs to payroll outsourcer or internal payroll.
  • Data analyst skills, with ability to a analyse, prepare and transform large amounts of data utilising excel.
  • Expert grasp of HR data, experienced in extracting from HR system(s) and preparing for reporting including for the purposes of JML, Finance and payroll inputs. Extensive experience in analyzing HRIS and HR performance metrics.
  • Experienced and skilled in the control and governance associated with HR data, e.g. DPIA, reviewing requirements in terms of HR system applicability.
  • Proven track record of working to deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Proactive individual who is a self-starter and can lead and drive tasks to completion
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with a proven track record of working to deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Good communication skills and ability to work with a range of stakeholders
