Justteachers are looking to recruit a Behaviour Support Mentor to work within a school in King's Lynn for students who have withdrawn from mainstream education. The school is a specialist provision for students with SEMH (Social Emotional and Mental Health difficulties). The majority of students have withdrawn from mainstream education and are disengaged, reluctant learners who can show challenging behaviours. As a result, the working environment can on occasion be challenging. We’re looking for someone who is passionate about supporting young people reach the best possible outcomes. Working in this type of setting is very rewarding.
- The post is offered with a daily rate of £70.00 – £90.00 per day (dependent on experience)
- Working hours are 8.30am – 3:30pm Monday to Friday.
- This position is available straight away (later start date is possible for the right candidate).
- This role is offered on a temporary to permanent basis for the right candidate.

As a behaviour support mentor, you will be supporting primary age students ( 5 -11 years old) on both a 1:1 basis and within small groups, providing both academic and behaviour support, as well as assisting the pastoral team within school.
The successful candidate will have experience working with children. Experience working adults with special needs or any kind of work which relates to supporting the progress of vulnerable children or young people would also be considered. We are looking for someone who really wishes to make a difference for young people who need extra support to help with their education.
Ideal candidates will:
- Be comfortable working in challenging and sometimes difficult environments
- Be passionate about the development and learning of students with SEMH and want to make a difference.
- Work well with teachers and school support staff as part of a professional team
- Be willing to build relationships with learners and understand what is behind the behaviour
- Be creative, flexible and have an active interest in working with hard to reach students
- Able to work as part of a team and support the ethos of a school
- The school has specified that Team Teach or equivalent positive handling training is required.
Desirable:
- Have experience working in Special Schools, PRU’s, SEMH Schools, Care Homes or Residential Homes
