Job Title: Battery/ Cell Technician (full-time)
Reporting: Cell Development Manager
Department: Chief Product Officer
Location: Sawston, Cambridge HQ
Job Summary
You will be actively involved in developing new Li-ion technologies, involving advanced electrochemical experiments, and in contributing to improvements to Echion’s product portfolio.
You will have the opportunity to work with a great team of technicians and scientists and contribute to the technical and operational direction of the company.
Key Responsibilities
1. >80% of time spent performing hands-on tasks which include slurry mixing, electrode coating, calendaring, and building cells (coin and pouch)
2. Work closely with the scientists to carry out complex experimental test campaigns and implement them
3. Handle air-sensitive and hazardous materials in a glove box or fume hood
4. Prepare chemical samples for characterization (SEM, XRD, XPS, and more)
5. Manage and analyse cell-related test data; electrical, materials, thermal characterization, etc. The cells can be a coin, cylindrical, and pouch cells.
6. Keep a record of data, and generate regular reports and presentations to the team
7. Follow and maintain quality control procedures (SOPs) to the highest safety standards
8. Keep the lab safe and efficient
Education & Qualifications required: Bachelors in the field of Electrochemistry, Chemistry, MaterialsScience, or similar
Experienced required:
- Hands-on experience in experimental chemical sciences R&D, in academic or industrial work will be a plus
- Experience in preparing test plans, reports, and presentations as part of academia/industry will be a plus
Skills & knowledge:
- Ability and passion to perform hands-on tasks
- Ability to follow and maintain SOPs accurately and safely required
- Great team player
- Great attention to detail
- Analytical skills
- Report and presentation writing skills
- Hard-working and highly motivated
- Good working knowledge of Windows and MS Office
- A high degree of perseverance, and dedication to learning new skills
Other key information
- This is a lab-based position so all relevant SOPs and HSEQprocedures must be followed
- Appropriate PPE will be provided where required
