Batch & Furnace Operative - Shifts
Knottingley Business Unit
Role description:
In conjunction with supervision the Batch and Furnace operative has a key role in maintaining the efficient operation of the batch plant and supporting department function.
Responsibilities:
Acceptance of raw materials to specification ensuring quality is maintained
Monitor stock and condition of materials used to manufacture the required glass quality
Operation of the Batch Plant ensuring raw materials are weighed and mixed to issued recipe
Autonomous maintenance activities for batch plant, Filter plants and basement operations
Identification and action resolutions to maintain Batch plant operation with support teams
Monitor and inspect material transport systems from storage silo to weigh scale and furnace
Maintain basement and cullet quencher operation
Support operation of filter plants
Operate department vehicles transferring materials to maintain process
Safe operation and inspection of vehicles used in role
Proficiency and support of Core Furnace operations
Effective communication with colleagues, supervision and cross functional teams for efficient operations.
Embrace and adopt lean tool principles
Compliance with Company Health and Safety Procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
Required skills / qualifications:
Ability to operate various vehicles - Skid Steer and Wheel loader, Cullet Wagon & FLT - (training will be given).
An Understanding of the materials used in Glassmaking.
Worked in the Glass Manufacturing Industry (desirable).
Worked in a Batch & Furnace Plant (desirable).
Good standard of numeracy and literacy skills.
Chemistry or related qualification (desirable).

Competitive salary Min £34,620 – Max £40,478 per Annum
