Job description
We are looking for an internal auditor to join our busy team at Aster. You’ll work with our core business areas, supporting the Director of Audit to ensure the delivery of the internal audit plan.
What you’ll be doing
Working together with our core business areas you will conduct internal audits across a wide range of business activities, to provide an independent assurance on the way in which the business is managed.
The position involves undertaking a wide range of audits relating to the social housing sector. You’ll be required to design and undertake testing strategies to assess the adequacy of the design and application of control processes, and to record the results in line with the agreed internal audit methodology, as set out in the Aster Internal Audit Manual.
You will need to have strong analytical, written and communication skills with the ability to engage with a wide range of stakeholders across the business to inform your audit and feedback on the results.Undertaking research to inform the audit view of the subject area, identifying best practice and ensure that the auditable area is performing to the required and expected standard.
At the end of the audit fieldwork you will produce a high quality draft report which sets out the key aspects of the audit, proposed management actions and follows a no surprises approach.
About you
We are looking for candidates with either a track record in delivering risk-based internal audits or in housing management.
You will be a good communicator and able to engage with the business at all levels, both verbally and in writing.
You will be able to use your own initiative and to work with minimal supervision. Being able to think analytically, show great attention to detail and demonstrate sound judgement are all extremely important in this role.
