With an in-depth commercial understanding of the ecological calendar, our team can advise on the surveys most appropriate for any development programme. Join us in providing pragmatic solutions to all ecological problems with a focus on economical and cost-effective solutions for clients.
What you’ll be doing
- Bat Surveying:
- Dusk emergence and dawn re-entry bat surveys
- Bat activity surveys (dusk or dawn)
- Using a bat detector and recording device (own equipment an advantage) to record data on bat activity on various sites
- Using BWB survey forms to record findings
- Supply us with raw data (bat sound files) and completed survey form following survey within one week
- Newt Surveying
- Pond surveys for great crested newts, following standard guidelines, using a minimum of three survey techniques (usually torching, bottle trapping and egg-searching).
- Surveyors will always work in pairs with one license holder per pair
- Using BWB survey forms to record data, which is to be returned to us within one week
- Working with the highest standards of animal welfare, following best practice.
What you’ll bring
- Bat Surveyors
- Licenced or non-licensed surveyors with some bat survey experience
- CIEEM membership would be advantageous
- Bat detector kit an advantage (equipment can be supplied) (full spectrum bat detector and recording capability)
- Night-vision recording equipment also advantageous
- PPE requirements as follows: (steel toe cap boots, hi viz jacket/ vest, warm clothes, clipboard/pen and head torch)
- Newt Surveyors
- Licensed or non-licensed surveyors, with some newt survey experience/knowledge
- Having your own bottle traps and high-powered torch (to standard guidelines) would be advantageous but equipment can be provided
- PPE requirements as follows: (steel toe waders/wellies, hi viz jacket/ vest, clipboard/pen and head torch)
