The Role:
A great opportunity has arisen at our Hovis site in Glasgow. We're looking for a Basket Wash Operative to contribute to the achievement of compliance, quality and performance standards within the Basket Wash Department. In this role you will ensure compliance to site Health & Safety regulations and have an awareness of site policy on Health & Safety, Food safety, Hygiene, and Accident Reporting. You must be able to use your own initiative, prioritise tasks and clean as you go. The successful candidate must possess the following skills and experience;
Key Accountabilities:
- To comply with Health and Safety regulations, as laid down by the bakery to ensure the safety of themselves and others
- Offloading of baskets from vehicles using basketeers
- To operate the Basket Wash for the cleaning of bread baskets and ensure these are delivered to bread production
- To safely operate equipment such as Fork Lift Trucks and isolate machinery
- To ensure that cleaning chemicals are used and maintained
- External working in adverse conditions
- The movement of baskets using correct manual handling techniques
- To report all faults of cleaning equipment to the Coordinator
- To complete pre-start up checks at the beginning of each working shift
Ideal Experiences / Qualifications / Capabilities:
- Basic Numeracy and Literacy
- Food Hygiene Certificate
- Good understanding of site/business health & safety
- requirements
- Good Understanding of manufacturing processes on site
- Good understanding of site audit requirements
- Good Timekeeping & Attendance
- Flexibility
- Willing to learn & develop new skills where required.
- I.T. Skills.
- Communication skills
- Experience of working within a similar environment, namely food production would be desirable.

Reports to: Hygiene Manager
Salary: £24,464.00
Shift pattern: 4 on 4 off (12hrs shift 2 x days 2 x nights 4 off - repeated)
