BBC Audio Technical Production runs engineering operations for all 11 national BBC networks and delivers the biggest musical events on the calendar for BBC Radio.
We’re a leading provider of services and equipment to the BBC and independent production companies. With 100 highly-trained and qualified engineers, outside broadcast bases in London, Bristol and Salford, 27 broadcast support vehicles and dedicated teams to support the whole operation, Technical Production offers a complete service in all aspects of speech, drama, classical and pop music production.
BBC Audio’s Outside Broadcast Base at Matrix Park is central to the creation of many of BBC Radio’s most prestigious events such as the Proms, Glastonbury, Premiership Football, Radio 1 Big Weekend, Sunday Worship and Any Questions - to name just a few - rely on the accurate and timely allocation and delivery of outside broadcast vehicles and equipment.
Main ResponsibilitiesThe Base Manager is responsible for the day to day management and supervision of equipment allocation, stores operations and logistics requirements to ensure that our teams on the ground get the right equipment in the right place at the right time.

Are you the right candidate?To be successful in this role, you will:
- need a good knowledge and experience of HGV fleet compliance and skills.
- ideally have a experience of managing Health & Safety, compliance with statutory regulations and a Certificate of Professional Competence or the willingness to complete this qualification.
- be an excellent, experienced administrator and planner, with experience in a similar critical service environment (e.g. a warehouse, broadcast hire company or TV OB facility).
- need to be IT literate and numerate with a good eye for detail and data accuracy.
- have experience of managing and supervising teams and be used to managing stakeholders to ensure that satisfactory outcomes are achieved.
- be comfortable prioritising conflicting requirements, working to unmissable deadlines, all within an environment where health and safety and HGV compliance must never be compromised.
