MAIN FUNCTION
To maintain and run the bar at Afrikana to the highest levels of Quality, Service and Cleanliness and achieve the Company’s Mission of 100% Total Customer Satisfaction.
TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Drink Preparation
To prepare all bar menu items in line with demand and to a high standard using a variety of equipment and tools in a busy bar environment. An ability to understand and act upon Afrikana methods of production and quality control is essential. To be familiar with the preparation methods of all bar menu items as described in the Operations manual and to comply with its requirements in all its aspects.
- Mixing and blending mocktails and mojitos to company specifications. This is a dry bar with no alcohol.
- Working independently and collaboratively with the team to ensure all guests receive the highest quality.
- Maintaining a high standard of cleanliness behind the bar.
- Performing all opening, running and closing procedures up to company standards.
- Displaying an attitude of sincerity and concern when listening to guest complaints.
- Being courteous and understanding with colleagues and guests alike.
- Understand and implement the company ethos.
- Being on time and in the correct uniform for every scheduled shift.
- Performing any reasonable task as requested by the Manager on Duty.
Moving various stock items (some heavy) from main stock areas to kitchen storage will be required.
Customer Service
To provide 100% customer satisfaction through friendly, courteous and helpful behaviour, timely and accurate counter service, delivering a consistently high quality product and showing sensitivity to individual customer’s needs. This will involve the use of a cash register, various drinks dispensers and the ability to understand and act upon Afrikana’s methods of quality control. To be familiar with the service method as described in the Operations manual and to comply with its requirements in all its aspects. Staff Members must be confident in approaching and dealing with diverse groups of people.

Cleanliness and Food Hygiene
To maintain levels of cleanliness and hygiene which exceed the standards required by law and fulfil the standards expected from our customers. This will involve the use of a variety of cleaning utensils and equipment and a range of chemical cleaning products. Where necessary, protective equipment will be provided. A full understanding of hygiene requirements and wholehearted commitment to these responsibilities is essential.
Personal standards
To maintain the highest level of personal hygiene and to comply with uniform standards as stated in the operations manual. To be at all times a credit to the brand.
JOB RELATIONSHIPS
Will work closely with:
- All managers to assist them with their responsibilities in the operation of the restaurant.
- All staff members to work as a team to achieve the tasks allocated in an efficient and productive manner.
