Aramark Canada is looking a Lead Barista to join our team for our brand new Barista Bar in Manulife Global Headquarter. The Lead Barista will report to the Food Service Director. The Lead Barista will lead a team of 5 employees, promotes coffee consumption by educating customers: preparing and serving a variety of coffee/tea drinks, along with pastries and menu items.
Job Responsibilities
- Welcomes customers by determining their beverage interests and needs.
- Educates customers by presenting and explaining the drinks menu, answering questions, explaining differences in coffee beans and coffee preparation machines; demonstrating how brewing equipment operates.
- Prepares and sells coffee/tea drinks by following prescribed recipes and preparation techniques for coffee drinks, such as, expresso, latte, and cappuccino, matcha, etc.
- Maintains inventories by replenishing coffee bean supply; stocking coffee brewing equipment; maintaining supplies.
- Keeps equipment operational by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.
- Count, organize and balance cash drawer, fill out the cashier slip and make deposits. Adheres to Aramark’s cash handling policies and procedures.
- Set up and breakdown coffee bar, stations or store including cleaning and sanitizing
- Maintain clean and sanitary work area
- Stock beverage coolers, grab and go items, service ware and condiments
- Follow health, safety, and sanitation guidelines for all products
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities
- Other duties as assigned by management
Qualifications
Excellent in communication- Passionate about coffee
- Ability to keep a calm, mature, professional demeanor when needed
- Proactive approach to problem-solving
- A high degree of work ethics and obsession with superior customer service
- Excellent time management skills and ability to multitask
- High level of organization
- Ability to adapt to changes
- Superior leadership capabilities: ability to work well within groups o
- 3+ years of experience in specialty coffee and/or the coffee industry preferred
- Basic or previous POS knowledge a plus, Previous management experience preferred
This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing. This role may also require uniforms and/or usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
