This role consists of two main areas of responsibility: Psychosis Lead (22.5 hours) &Early Intervention in Psychosis team (15 hours). We are interested in hearing from candidates who may be interested in one aspect of the role, or both.

Psychosis Lead: Are you passionate about improving access to psychological interventions for people with psychosis and Bipolar Disorder? We are looking to recruit an experienced practitioner to act as a lead for the development of access to psychological interventions for people with a diagnosis of Psychosis & Bipolar Disorder in Swindon. This role will also involve linking up with the Psychosis Leads in BANES and Wiltshire to co-ordinate service developments across the Division.

Early Intervention in Psychosis (EIp) team: This team provides specialist input to people presenting with a first episode of psychosis and their families. Psychological input in this team is well established and highly valued by team members. You will be working alongside a more junior Practitioner Psychologist, and several team members have completed training in family interventions for people with psychosis. The EI team is co-located with the Recovery Team and the Psychological Therapies Service, in the centre of Swindon.

Psychosis Lead: You should have significant post-qualification experience of providing psychological interventions for service users with Psychosis and Bipolar Disorder. Alongside carrying a clinical caseload, you will play a key role in widening access to NICE recommended psychological interventions for service users with these difficulties in the Locality. The role will involve consultation to colleagues in other teams, and the provision of supervision to colleagues undertaking training in CBTp and/or family interventions for Psychosis within the Locality. You will work closely with the Senior CBTp Therapist and with the Psychosis Leads from BANES and Wiltshire.

Early Intervention in Psychosis (EIp) team: You will provide highly specialist assessment, formulation and evidence based psychological intervention to a caseload of service users, on the Early Intervention in Psychosis team caseload. As an integral member of the multi-disciplinary team, you will be involved in team formulation, team case discussions and consultation to other team members around the delivery of psychological interventions. You will provide clinical supervision to the junior Practitioner Psychologist within the team and other practitioners undertaking training in psychological interventions.

The team has a strong emphasis on promoting staff wellbeing, including a bi-monthly reflective practice group and monthly Compassion Focussed Staff Support sessions.

CLINICAL
1. To provide a high quality and largely autonomous and systematic psychological therapies service, with a focus on the provision of evidence based, psychological interventions for people with psychosis and Bipolar Disorder.

2. To undertake highly specialist assessments, including neuropsychological
assessment, risk assessment and assessment for suitability for specialist
psychological therapies with clients and their carers (as appropriate to the role).

3. To formulate and implement plans for the formal psychological treatment and/or management of clients’ mental health problems, based upon an appropriate conceptual framework of the client’s problems, and employing methods based upon evidence of efficacy, across the full range of care settings.

4. To be responsible for providing a range of psychological interventions for
individuals, carers and groups, within and across teams employed individually and in synthesis, adjusting and refining psychological formulations drawing upon
different explanatory models and maintaining a number of provisional hypotheses.

5. To provide at least one specialist evidence based psychological intervention
relevant to the client group.

6. To provide highly specialist consultation to members of the various teams in the area and beyond regarding formulation and psychological management of clients of those teams.

7. To use highly specialist psychological knowledge and skills to contribute to the
more effective management of patients by teams.

8. To be involved in the development and delivery of training within the Trust

9. To participate in clinical and caseload supervision arrangements provided by the Psychological Therapies Service.

10.To maintain accurate records and to monitor clinical workload using agreed systems.

11. To support the full implementation of CPA or equivalent including acting as
Care Co-ordinator as appropriate to the needs of the service.

12. To enter data as requested by the Trust in a timely manner

MANAGEMENT

1. To undertake day to day operational management of more junior staff as
delegated by the Head of the Psychological Therapies Service.

2. To undertake caseload supervision of more junior staff as delegated by the Head of the Psychological Therapies Service.

3. To represent the service at specialist meetings as requested

4. The co-ordination of small scale projects related to the provision of psychological interventions for people with psychosis and Bipolar Disorder, as requested.

PROFESSIONAL

1. To fully adhere to the Policies and Procedures of the HCPC. To fully observe the BPS (2009) Code of Conduct, the DCP Generic Professional Practice Guidelines (2008),or any other relevant codes of practice.

2. To be aware of, adhere to, and where appropriate, contribute to the formulation and review of Trust, Locality, and team policies and procedures. Copies of Trust Policies can be accessed via the staff intranet or from your manager.

3. To participate in local psychological therapy and psychology meetings and trust wide meetings as appropriate.

4. To maintain and develop high standards of Clinical / Counselling Psychology
practice by engaging in continuing professional development and cooperative
working/networking with other psychological therapists.

5. To participate in an annual performance appraisal

6. To participate in clinical supervision

SERVICE GOVERNANCE

1. To participate in service governance processes in the profession and in the
Locality to maintain a safe, effective service which responds to Service User
feedback.

2. To support and participate in multidisciplinary clinical audit on relevant topics.

3. To liaise with other disciplines and agencies to ensure that best practice is shared.

4. To promote the use of evidence based and effective interventions in the service.

TRAINING AND STAFF DEVELOPMENT

1. To provide supervision for Clinical Psychology trainees from regional training
courses and elsewhere as appropriate.

2. To provide training, supervision and consultation in psychological approaches to other staff in multidisciplinary teams. This is to include joint assessment, formulation of psychological problems and planning of interventions to be implemented by other team members with service users.

3. To contribute to the development of a psychologically based framework of
understanding and care across service settings through providing teaching, training, consultation and supervision.

4. To provide training and supervision to assistant psychologists .

5. To participate in peer supervision arrangements for psychologists in the area.

6. To collaborate with colleagues to develop and offer training courses, workshops and supervision groups to develop psychological skills for staff in the area.

7. To contribute to the teaching of students and trainees in psychology, medicine, nursing and other health care disciplines.

8. To agree a plan of personal development with the line manager and professional lead for the service.

SERVICE / POLICY DEVELOPMENT

1. To collaborate with specialist staff and other agencies in the Locality to extend the range of specialist psychological individual, family and group interventions available across the area, with a specific focus on access to psychological interventions for people with psychosis and Bipolar Disorder.

2. To propose changes to policies and procedures in multidisciplinary teams as
appropriate.

3. To advise managers of service developments

RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT

1. To engage in research relevant to service priorities as appropriate.

2. To participate in audit and service evaluation activities examining the
effectiveness of current service delivery and informing the development of services relevant to client needs.

3. To provide advice, support and consultation to colleagues from other disciplines undertaking research in the area
