If so, we invite your application for the role of Practitioner Psychologist in the inpatient psychology service at the Oleaster centre.

The post is part time and flexible working would also be considered.

Applications from newly qualified psychologists are encouraged, and trainee applicants would be considered.

Due to a recent promotion a vacant post has become available at the Oleaster centre. You would be joining a small supportive team of 3 psychologists and 2 assistant psychologists.

You would be part of the wider Acute Psychology Service. Psychologists are strongly placed to lead on service development and delivery across all elements of the care pathway. We have an established track record in service innovation and support a diverse range of clinical and academic interests with strong links to university programmes. There is an internal CPD programme that you would have access to and there is substantial additional funding to offer external training in an area of your choosing.

Inpatient services provide multidisciplinary care on a 24/7 to clients who are admitted when experiencing a mental health crisis. You would be part of a supportive psychological service which provides input to the 5 wards at Oleaster. You would be working with experienced psychological colleagues to provide a service for people with complex needs such as psychosis, bipolar disorder, PTSD and personality disorders.

The role of the Psychologist in the inpatient service at Oleaster includes:

  • Offering assessments and brief evidenced-based psychological interventions to service users.
  • Developing and encouraging the use of psychological formulations to inform care planning for clients.
  • Supporting multidisciplinary teams through case consultation, training and reflective practice.
  • Liaising with community teams/specialist services to facilitate onward referrals/interventions for clients.
  • Service development and service evaluation and audit.
We are looking for enthusiastic, committed and skilled clinicians who can work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team, to provide a range of clinical services. As well as being embedded within teams, the successful candidate would have opportunity to join colleagues in specialist supervision groups, special interest groups and service development projects. Continuing professional development is supported and encouraged, with funding for EMDR accreditation as standard.
