An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and autonomous Learning Disabilities Practitioner to join the Trust’s Learning Disability & Autism Team as the Practice Development Facilitator, Learning Disabilities & Autism.

Applications are invited from Registered Learning Disabilities Nurses and Allied Health Professionals with substantial experience of working with people with learning disabilities and autistic people at Band 6 or above in a healthcare environment.

The post holder will be working as the Practice Development Facilitator for a dynamic team, taking a lead on service improvement for the Learning Disabilities & Autism service across BHRUT’s two hospital sites.

We are looking for someone who has excellent leadership skills, effective organisational skills, highly developed communication skills and the ability to interact with people from a wide variety of professional backgrounds. The post holder will be responsible for improving the quality of care received by individuals with a Learning Disability and autistic people within the acute hospital setting by ensuring both local and national best practice is integrated within the Trust. They will act as a role model and clinical expert within the specialty of learning disabilities across all areas of the Trust, supporting clinical staff in the management of care planning for patients with Learning Disabilities and autistic people.

What you can expect:

  • Reducing health inequalities by supporting the Trust’s delivery of the learning disability and autism strategy
  • Supporting the management of the Learning Disability Team’s clinical caseload, working on complex cases in liaison with the patient, their family/carers and the hospital MDT
  • Close liaison with the Community Learning Disability Services within the tri-borough catchment area
  • Leading on the implementation and delivery of the Trust’s training strategy relating to learning disability and autism
  • Peer supervision from a well-established and experienced Safeguarding Team
  • Leadership experience within The Safeguarding Team of an acute hospital trust serving a diverse demographic in North East London
  • Working within the Trust’s Corporate Nursing Division and exposure to strategic governance meetings with the opportunity to shadow the senior nursing team at strategic meetings
