Job summary

Are you a motivated, enthusiastic, experienced, innovative Physiotherapist? If yes, we are developing exciting opportunities within our Band 6 posts at Good Hope Hospital, Sutton Coldfield, West Midlands; part of UHB NHS FT. Either static or a relatively newly developed rotation which will cover a variety of clinical areas, to include: Health Care of Older People, Medicals, OPAL therapy to include working in the Emergency Department, Short stay areas, Homeward Centre (Rehab), Respiratory Surgery and potential to expand to Trauma and Orthopaedics, and Stroke at a later date.

The post holder could already be a Band 6 wishing for a change or are you currently an experienced Band 5 who would like to practice in a variety of clinical areas at a more senior level. Main duties, tasks & skills required

To provide Physiotherapeutic assessment, management and rehabilitation of patients in a variety of clinical areas at Good Hope Hospital. Working in a variety of teams that consists of Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and Therapy Support Workers. The rotations will be approximately 6 months in duration.

Required to participate in the seven day working programmes across the organisation, and demonstrate flexibility to work in a variety of shift patterns.

MAIN DUTIES

To hold responsibility for own case load and be responsible for a defined area of the service, working without direct supervision. Supervision takes the form of regular formal training and clinical reasoning sessions, peer review, case conferences. Access to advice and support from senior physiotherapists is available, clinical work is not routinely evaluated.

To undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner and maintain associated records. To participate in the site on-call respiratory physiotherapy out of hours service once training has been provided and deemed competent.

To assist with supervision, education and assessment of the performance of physiotherapy students; this would be to a graduate standard and involve working with universities to ensure the standard of practice and teaching meets the standards set by the degree level qualification. To assist with supervision, education and co-ordination of generic therapy assistants, and junior therapy staff.

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential

Diploma / degree in physiotherapy.

Current registration with Health Professions Council.

A levels or equivalent qualification

Good standard of general education including GCSE maths and English grade C and above.

Evidence of CPD including recent post graduate training relevant to clinical speciality.

Experience

Essential

Demonstrates comprehensive clinical experience enabling the post holder to manage a caseload of patients with complex needs in this speciality.

Significant experience of working in an acute hospital setting including acute hospital experience in respiratory, older peoples medicine, frail elderly, neurology, T&O and musculo-skeletal conditions. Minimum of 12 months experience

Experience of team/service development.

Experience of working on a respiratory physiotherapy on-call service.

Experience of supporting and supervision of junior therapists, student physiotherapists and assistants.

A specialist knowledge across a range of therapy practices, routine and non-routine, requiring expertise within the field of therapy.

Good understanding of working in an Acute Hospital Trust.

Understanding of current legislation and application to Physiotherapy.
