The Role:
The Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust brings together staff and services from Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust (SRFT) and The Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust (PAT). The NCA FT was formally established on 1 October 2021 and has been working together as a group since 2016.
The Northern Care Alliance Pathology Service is a collaborative between the Northeast Sector (NES) Pathology Service (previously known as Pennine Pathology) and Pathology at Wigan and Salford (PAWS). The service employs more than 600 staff and processes more than 24 million tests each year.
We have long term placement opportunities available for Band 5 Biomedical Scientists available at Royal Oldham Hospital specifically providing the following:
· To provide a continuous and comprehensive Pathology service as an aid to effective diagnosis and treatment of patients.
· To set up and operate automated analytical equipment for routine analyses e.g., biochemical analysers, tissue processors, blood culture analysers and full blood count analysers.
· To participate in the day-to-day provision of a high quality, cost effective clinical service and assist in the development of the service in line with departmental objectives.
· Carry out technical investigations in the department and perform routine maintenance on analysers and equipment
· Accurately register patient details, test requirements and information relevant to the specimen onto the laboratory computer.
Skills/Responsibilities
To apply for this post, you will:
· HCPC Registered Biomedical Scientist with IBMS accredited Honors Degree or equivalent
· Experience within a busy cellular pathology laboratory
· Ability to follow protocols accurately
· Supervisory experience
· Experience of working effectively in a team
