Job description
The successful candidate will be providing clinical and administrative support for the provision of dental care in DPHC(D) dental centres, to enhance force generation and operational capability and minimise dental morbidity on operations.
This role is offered at 37.5 hours per week. Requests to work flexibly will be considered but must fit with the business need.
Person specification
As the successful candidate your duties include but are not limited to:
Undertaking CPD in the core subject of medical emergencies, infection prevention control (IPC), disinfection and decontamination, radiography and radiation protection; legal and ethical issues and handling complaints, as recommended by the GDC.
Maintaining immunological protection against Hepatitis B in accordance with current guidelines, advising the Line Manager (LM) of any change to immunological status.
Ensuring their surgeries are prepared appropriately for the day’s patients in accordance with current regulations.
Reviewing the appointment diary at the start of each planned procedure and ensure the appropriate instrument sets are selected.
Recording accurate dental charting for each patient as required by the Clinician, Practice Supervisor/Manager, Receptionist and patient, as appropriate.

Qualifications
Must be registered with the General Dental Council (GDC) plus must have one of the following 5 post registration qualifications: Oral Health Education Certificate; Dental Radiography Certificate; Orthodontic Dental Nursing certificate; Dental Nursing Sedation certificate; Special Care Dental Nursing certificate.

Selection process details
The sift will be completed within 5 working days of the vacancy closing date. Interviews will be held on a date to be confirmed.
Requests to work flexibly and/or part time will be considered, taking into account business needs.
There will be no reimbursement for any travel expenses for the interview.
All employees joining Ministry of Defence who are new to the Civil Service will be subject to a 6-month probation period (unless otherwise advised) effective from the employment start date. Successful candidates must meet the security requirements before they can be appointed. The level of security needed is security check.
Please note the salary will be pro-rata where part time hours are undertaken.
