Job description
Band 3 Physiotherapy Assistant
ICU/Respiratory/Surgical Wards
34 hours a week. Working hours negotiable.
An exciting opportunity has arisen within our well-established Inpatient Therapy Service as a Band 3 Physiotherapy Assistant within our Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and surgery teams.
The successful post holder would have a responsibility in participating in the seven-day rota, working approximately 1:6 weekends with days off the following week.
This post is advertised for 34 hours a week but we would encourage those who might be looking for up to 37.5 hours to still apply as this could be considered for the right candidate. Please indicate this at the time of interview if you are successful.
The successful candidate needs to have previous NHS experience, ideally in an acute setting. Previous therapy assistant experience would also be preferable.
This post would be suitable for an individual with a particular interest in assisting patients to become as independent as possible. The role would also include supporting our qualified members of staff to deliver complex treatments to dependent patients and to assist with the admin of running of the department including data collection and equipment ordering.
There has never been a more exciting time to join West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust! Major redevelopment works are planned as part of the New Hospital Programme. These will be most dramatic at Watford General Hospital where up to 90% of buildings will be new.
The trust has recently gained ‘teaching hospital’ status which reflects the dedicated work of many teams and individuals who have set the standard for delivering high quality training, learning and education at all levels of the workforce.
We encourage and welcome people with disabilities. If you need help, please ask.
We reserve the right to close this advert early due to the volume of applicants. Please apply as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
If you do not hear back within 3 weeks of your application, please assume you have been unsuccessful on this occasion.
The post holder would mainly work within our ICU Team as well as on our Respiratory and Surgical wards. The caseload can be challenging and good communication and interpersonal skills, as well as a mature and tactful approach, are pre-requisites in working effectively within this post.
The post does not include any evening or over night responsibilities. Days and hours of work are negotiable on application.
The successful post-holder will be supported by a team of experienced static and rotational staff, and this post offers a potential candidate the ideal opportunity to gain a wealth of experience within our dedicated and friendly acute inpatient therapy service. You would be expected to join and contribute to the In-service training rota and the appraisal process.
