Are you CRAZY about food, keen to learn about marketing and excited to get involved in all aspects of running a small business (on a flexible, part-time basis)?

If so, we have just the job for you!

Chaos Makes Cake is an independent cake shop, based in Bristol. Following 2 years of extraordinarily fast growth, we need an extra pair of capable hands to join our mega friendly, little (but hugely ambitious!) team.

We’re seeking a motivated foodie with a can-do attitude, a knack for spinning lots of plates (pun totally intended) and an interest in learning how to run (and grow!) a small business.

Working as the owner’s ‘right-hand person’, you will get the opportunity to shape the role to suit your skills and interests, and get involved in all sorts of tasks - from product development to writing marketing emails and managing our digital advertising; from attending food events to managing our ingredient supplier relationships and communicating with customers.

This is an entry-level role and we will give the right candidate full training.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Content creation

Writing mouth-watering content to promote our brownies and cookies; designing images for social media and for our email marketing, using our incredible product photos and easy-to-use design tools (training will be given).

  • Social media marketing

Creating and maintaining a regular posting schedule to grow our reach and brand presence; reaching out to food influencers; engaging with followers; running audience competitions and giveaways; in time, executing and monitoring our paid advertising campaigns.

  • Email marketing

Writing and designing emails to launch new products, announce promotions and foster customer loyalty.

  • Customer communications

Looking after our customers by responding to inbound emails and messages.

  • Website management

Looking after our e-commerce website, www.chaosmakescake.co.uk, including building new product pages and updating content as necessary.

  • Supplier liaison and management

Working to build solid long-term relationships with our ingredient and packaging suppliers; managing orders and stock on a weekly basis.

  • Market stall attendance

Helping the owner run the Chaos Makes Cake stall at food markets (in and around Bristol).

  • A little bit of everything else!

You’ll also be expected to help with all sorts of administrative tasks, including stock ordering, invoice logging, supplier relations and lots more.

Must-haves:

  • A genuine, unbridled love of food (especially cakes and all things sweet!)
  • Impeccable writing skills - you’ll need to write correctly, but also have a knack for storytelling and ability to use our brand tone of voice
  • A friendly, outgoing manner - you’ll need to be able to engage and communicate effectively with customers, both digitally and at in-person events
  • The willingness to get stuck into any task, proactively get things done and learn new skills

Brownie points if you also have:

  • Basic knowledge of / experience in social media and email marketing
  • Basic design skills / experience using design template tools like Canva
  • Basic photography / video shooting skills
  • Basic understanding of / experience in website management
  • Baking / cookery skills - you may need to get involved in brownie production, during unusually busy periods!

To apply, please submit your CV, highlighting your relevant experience and skills. If you get through to the next stage, we will carry out an interview and ask you to create a sample social media post and email, to showcase your writing skills.

Thank you for your interest in joining us at Chaos Makes Cake!
