Location: Taurus Crafts, Lydney, Gloucestershire. GL15 6BU
Purpose: To ensure we offer fresh and delicious goods to our customers on a daily basis. To prepare different types of bread and a wide range of pastries, cookies & cakes.
Salary: £11.60- £12.60 per hour
Hours: 37.5 Hours per week. (5am-2pm, 5 days per week, Monday-Sunday)

Who are we looking for?
- Entrepreneur baker with a can-do attitude who can set-up and run our brand new bakery facility.
- You’ll need to be physically fit: some of the work will require lifting and moving of stock or equipment.
- At least one-year experience working within a formal bakery environment.
- You will have a relevant qualification including food allergens and intolerances.
- You’ll need to have a very high personal hygiene standard.
- Awareness and application of Health & Safety procedures.
- A good working knowledge and respect for high quality produce, sourced from local suppliers.
- Demonstrate proficient preparation and baking skills.
- Show respect for all produce and contribute towards the required gross food profit margins.
What are the main responsibilities of this role?
- Opening the Bakery in the early morning.
- Cleaning kitchen equipment and tools before and after using them.
- To prepare ingredients and follow recipes to prepare the dough.
- Shape dough to prepare different types of rolls, buns, loaves and pastries
- Bake different types of bread. i.e. Sourdough, Brioche, Baguettes & Multi-Grain.
- Create and follow recipes for different cakes, cookies & pastries.
- Track food supplies and place orders, as needed.
- Ensuring the “Clean as you go” practices are followed.
- Menu development and planning, baking and producing delicious and nutritious food using fresh, local and organic produce where possible.
- Food production within the kitchen, to include occasional special events, party catering and functions.
- Working with the Café Manager and kitchen team to manage all aspects of the food chain including sourcing of local and organic products where possible; safe storage, preparation and presentation; purchase cost and portion control; and waste management.
- To work to enhance the customer experience through increasing efficiency in working practices, developing a creative, comfortable and welcoming atmosphere and environment, and through promoting an ethos of customer centred service.
- To conduct all aspects of daily, weekly and monthly cleaning of the kitchen, equipment and other food service areas.
Role requirements:
- Experience as a Baker, Pastry Chef or similar role - essential
- Familiarity with all professional kitchen equipment, including mixers, proofers, blenders and dough sheeters – essential
- Understanding of food safety practices - essential
- Experience with cake decoration techniques - desirable
- Excellent time-management skills - essential
- Ability to remain calm and focused in a fast-paced environment - essential
- Team spirit, with a customer-focused attitude.
- Flexibility to work in early morning shifts.
- Certification from a culinary school is desirable.
- Good level of standard education.
- Minimum Level 2 Food Hygiene certificate.
- A “can do” attitude and willingness to ensure all our customers receive a great experience.
- Ability to manage on a tight budget whilst still being creative and providing exciting nutritious food.
- Able to manage systems: Safer Business Procedures & ordering.
