Backend Software Engineer

About the role:
We are a close-knit team looking for a new member to join the Tewke family as we look to grow our proposition. We are seeking a Backend Software Engineer to work closely with the frontend and embedded software teams to develop our cloud-based backend infrastructure in a secure and reliable way.
What you will be doing:
- Leading the design, implementation, and deployment of cloud services, APIs, and databases
- Collaborating with Tewke’s frontend and embedded software teams to create a reliable, robust and secure cloud infrastructure.
- Building and scaling a system which will support millions of customers.
- Launching software products to an international audience.
About you:
The ideal candidate will have worked for at least 2 years as a backend software engineer and have experience with AWS and Docker. They should be comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with other software engineers across a wide technical stack.
We would prefer someone who can work in our London (Southwark) office at least 3 days a week, however we will consider remote candidates. You will need to have the right to work in the UK.
- Education: BEng/Meng in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, Information & Communication Engineering (or similar).
- Strong experience working on the backend of a technology product.
- Experience developing REST API’s.
- Experience using AWS.
- Experience deploying secure cloud infrastructure.
- Strong programming skills in Python, TypeScript/JavaScript or similar.
- Database management skills.
- Experience architecting, building, launching and maintaining consumer scale products.
- You are comfortable using version control software from providers such as GitHub or GitLab.
- Passion for software development and staying on top of current technologies.
- Comfortable working independently.
Nice to have:
- Experience working with Docker.
- Experience working with home automation.
- Experience securely managing user data.
- Experience with MariaDB and InfluxDB.

Job Type: Full-time
Salary: £35,000.00-£48,000.00 per year
