Our dedicated Airport Security Officers are based at East Midlands Airport
As one of our Airport Security officers, you’ll be part of the customer service & security team, the largest team in the airport delivering one of the most critical functions ensuring our airways remain secure, our airport remains protected and are customers remain safe.

- Have you lived continually in the UK for the last 3 years to be able to obtain Counter Terrorism Clearance?

About the Role:
The role is varied and will take you to several locations across the airport, carrying out a wide range of security functions. No two days are the same and you play a vital role in keeping our airport and our customers safe - you will be vigilant by nature and act as our eyes & ears.
Some of the things you’ll be doing will include:
- checking colleague and customer paperwork
- carrying out hand searches
- operating high-tech x-rays and screening equipment.
- patrolling the airport and working across our terminal, airport gatehouses and with our cargo partners.
Our training academy will prepare you for the role, but you will need to:
- have great communication skills and be able to get your message across with a wide range of different nationalities.
- be passionate about customers service and going the extra mile every time.
- be inquisitive, vigilant & pro-active with great attention to detail.
- enjoy working in a lively fast paced environment.
- be able to think on your feet and make the right decisions.
- be fit and able and happy to be on your feet for long periods, able to squat down and be comfortable manual handling.
If successful a conditional offer will be made subject to pre-employment checks and passing your initial 3-week training course.
Our pre-employment checks include a Criminal Record Check, 5 years full employment history and Counter Terrorism Check as well as a face-to-face medical examination.
Our contracts:
We work our rosters around our business needs and what our colleagues say works for them.
Bear in mind regardless of the contract you work your training takes 3 weeks and runs from Monday to Friday 0800-1600.
AM 22 – Targeted for the early risers, you’ll play an important role in welcoming most of our customers during the early morning when our airport is at its busiest. This roster works on a 5 days on/3 days off pattern starting at 0300 and finishing at 0800.
This is one of our most popular rosters as it allows plenty of time to enjoy the rest of the day ahead.
We offer 5.6 weeks leave inclusive of bank holidays which we pay at double time.
PM22 – Targeted for those that prefer a later start to the day, you will support the operation in the busy afternoon peak. This roster works on a 5 days on/3 days off pattern starting at 1100 and finishing at 1600.
