The focus of your role:

Reporting to the Head of Automotive Video, every videographer must use their skills in producing, shooting and editing video in order to help the respective publications achieve key targets. This could include YouTube subscriber growth, building an additional revenue stream from a social media channel or creating relevant content for the brand’s rapidly growing digital editions.

Role Responsibility

  • Work with the Head of Automotive Video and others to create engaging, brand-focused content for a variety of brands, including MCN, Parkers and CAR magazine. In each case, the title’s specific style guide must be adhered to in order to maintain quality and tone
  • Assist the Head of Automotive Video in reaching set targets, goals and standards agreed at the start of each year
  • Plan, shoot, edit and upload videos, with a strong emphasis on storytelling and excellent sound design. This includes managing scriptwriters/presenters to ensure that all necessary material is collected in a timely manner
  • Assist in the careful management of the production calendar to ensure all time-sensitive and embargoed videos are published on time. This may involve communicating with and assisting in the management of freelance videographers, as well as the wider editorial teams inhouse
  • Take ownership, with the Head of Automotive Video, of channel management – we aim for meticulous house-keeping of our platforms such as YouTube, Facebook and Twitter
  • Re-use existing video content across all titles in order to supplement viewing figures and income from video product
  • Own the management, care and servicing of Bauer’s inhouse video equipment. Provide necessary input to future purchases, outlining what is needed to achieve set goals

The Ideal Candidate

  • A strong understanding of video equipment and how to use it effectively – this ranges from an in-depth knowledge of the latest camera equipment, audio-recording hardware and editing software – including Premiere Pro, Photoshop and After Effects
  • Excellent story telling skills Each video must tell a story. You need to supplement and contribute to the script with impactful shots, audio and editing
  • Good time management Ability to work under pressure, prioritize and keep multiple plates spinning
  • A collaborative mindset – We are seeking someone who can join a thriving, busy hub. Teamwork skills essential
  • Desirable: Knowledge and enthusiasm for all things automotive – a keen interest and understanding of cars and motorbikes in order to provide a better contribution to all parts of video production
