The role:

As Technical Specialist Manager you will proactively develop technical expertise within our UK Motor and Technical operations teams, to enable greater roadside repair through improved technical knowledge and expertise.
You will be responsible for the service delivery of the technical specialists, ensuring all technical and operational reporting, projects and activities are completed on time.
Client relationships are important to us; therefore, you will own and facilitate the technical relationship with our clients and ensure all parties have the necessary technical information updates.
You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of your team, ensuring they achieve their optimum levels of performance. You will utilise your excellent communication skills when dealing with your team, colleagues and clients and ensure structured and regular two-way communication is taking place
You will be responsible for your agreed budget and will be expected to achieve your objectives within this budget. With a focus on quality, your team will deliver an exceptional service at every customer touchpoint whilst keeping sight of commercial objectives.
Hours: will be working a 35-hour week, between the hours of 8am and 8pm Monday to Friday however, due to the nature of the role your hours may vary in line with business needs. This position can be fully remote; however, you will be required to attend team/client meetings as required.

Salary: £50 to £55,000 DOE plus £10,000 performance bonus

You will:
  • Plan resources to maximise productivity and deliver on SLAs
  • Enhance & continuously improve the resource dispatch decision process
  • Coordinate the identification & investigation of new technical trends and opportunities for repair
  • Support Recovery Network with technical assistance and create documentation
  • Facilitate & develop capabilities in remote diagnosis, telematics and tele-diagnosis
  • Support Group and other business units on technical projects
  • Ensure negative and poor performance issues are addressed and documented with clear timelines and follow-up. Carry out regular one to ones, appraisals, concerns meetings and keep accurate records of sickness, holiday and payroll data.
  • Ensure issues are highlighted to the Head of RSA Network & Technical and Account managers where necessary.
  • Attend client meetings and support the creation & delivery of presentations.
  • Make sure we have the technical information from our clients to maximise roadside repair and phone fix capabilities within Motor Operations
  • Work with our sales team and keep them informed of any issues which may need to be discussed with our clients and keep them notified of internal developments which may impact the client

About you:
  • Educated to a good standard of general education, you will have a Motor Vehicle Technical qualification to city & Guilds Level 2 or NVQ3 or equivalent
  • You will have proven experience as a manager in a technical role within a service delivery environment
  • You will be experience in using Automotive Diagnostic systems
  • Ideally you have previous experience working with remote diagnostic or telematics technology
  • Excellent verbal & written communication and presentation skills
  • Have a proven record of achieving objectives and cost control
  • Experience of resource planning in-line with business variable will be clearly evident
  • Be an effective communicator at senior management & director level
  • You are self-motivated, results focused and want to get the best from people
  • Sometimes you may need to visit clients and other business units, so you need to be able to travel
  • You must hold a full current driving licence
