Job description
The Automation Engineer is responsible for designing and testing automation systems for use in our electronics manufacturing facilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Exploring and implementing new ways to automate systems
- Designing and testing automation equipment and processes
- Investigate current manual manufacturing processes to see if automated systems make more financial sense.
- Programming new automated components
- Identifying quality issues and writing reports
- Eliminating defects and errors with product and software development
- Writes instruction manuals on how to use and maintain automation equipment
- Train operators, technicians, and engineers on how to use automation equipment
- Assist in the debug and repair of down automation equipment
- Collaborating with other business units
- All other duties as assigned by management to ensure the success of Futaba.
Experience and Educational Requirements:
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering or similar field
- Proficiency in maintaining automation equipment
- Experience with robotics and automated vision equipment
- Experience with project management
- Solid understanding of computer programming and software development
- Ability to understand and develop pneumatic and electrical circuits
- Ability to troubleshoot equipment and perform complex system tests
- Strong leadership and problem-solving skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Creative thinking skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong analytical skills
- Strong AutoCAD skills
- Ability to communicate well with other staff members
- Excellent manual dexterity

- A desire to continually upgrade technical knowledge
- 5 or more years related experience in designing automation equipment.
- Intermediate MS Office skills, specifically Excel, Word and Outlook are required.
Minimum Skills, Knowledge & Ability Requirements:
- Language and reading comprehension skills: Ability to read English, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Computer Skills: strong ability to use AutoCAD and Microsoft Office
- Pneumatic systems: strong understanding of the types of pneumatic devices
- Robotic systems: strong understanding of the various types of industrial robots and linear actuators.
- Verbal communication skills: Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees within the organization.
- Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardization situations.
