Purpose of the role
As an established and growing firm of accountants, we are seeking a highly motivated, proactive, and commercially astute ACA audit senior to join our team.
At all levels, you will display a flexible, professional approach and have the confidence and ability to establish credibility with clients. Working with us, you will have a broad scope in your role, giving you maximum experience and exposure and working for a variety of clients and sectors.
The ideal candidate will be ACA qualified with proven experience and knowledge of preparing statutory financial statements under UK GAAP and IFRS and auditing them under International Auditing Standards. Building and developing credible relationships with clients are also critical to the success of this role.
Main duties and responsibilities
Technical & Practical
- Reviewing the audit and accounts planning, performing the fieldwork process, managing junior team members, and finalising audits of our corporate clients complying with technical and professional standards
- Taking the lead throughout on-site fieldwork and audit project management to ensure delivery of a high-quality product for manager review, or directly for partner review
- Preparing and/or reviewing the UK corporation tax returns and supporting computations of our corporate clients
- Working with audit partners on one-off assignments in other areas, for example, corporate finance and forensic accounting
- Working on ad hoc technical projects from time to time
Managing Communications
- Liaising with clients directly or through the relevant managers to resolve queries or obtain further information
- Working closely with Partners and managers, advising them on any outstanding issues
- Mentoring new trainees and assisting with their growth with proactive on the job training and feedback to the management team
Personal Work Management
- Balancing the needs and expectations of different Partners and Managers.
Client Management
- Developing and maintaining good client relations
Developing Self and Others
- Appraising members of the audit team or assisting managers and partners to appraise the staff you work with on each assignment.
- Involvement in the training and mentoring of the team members in the audit team
Qualifications
- Exam qualified/ACA qualification
Relevant Experience
- Experience of external audits of small and medium-sized enterprises under UK GAAP
- Knowledge of Caseware and Alphatax software packages would be advantageous but not essential
- Experience in delivering results and adding value to clients.
- Experience in large consolidations would be advantageous
