Works as an audiologist for Kaiser Permanente. Confers with appropriate professionals regarding patient care and management. Makes members/patients and their needs a primary focus of one's actions; develops and sustains productive member/patient relationships. Actively seeks information to understand member/patient circumstances, problems, expectations, and needs. Builds rapport and cooperative relationships with both members/patients and colleagues. Considers how actions or plans will affect members and Kaiser Permanente; responds quickly to meet member/patient needs and resolves problems.
Essential Responsibilities:
This position, knows and complies with all Kaiser Permanente quality, safety, and emergency policies and procedures. Demonstrates quality and effectiveness in work habits and clinical practice in every interaction with patients, colleagues, providers, and leadership. Ensures patient safety in the preparation and provisioning of care related to but not limited to medications including the consistent use of 5 rights and 3 checks of medication administration, procedures, infection prevention, fall prevention, including consistent use of two patient identifiers and procedural time outs. Reports safety hazards, accidents and incidents, and unsafe working conditions promptly.
Measures hearing acuity and identifies the type and degree of hearing loss for patients of all ages by performing: a)pure tone audiometry; b) speech audiometry; c) immittance audiometry; d) behavioral observation audiometry; e) visual reinforcement audiometry; f) conditioned play audiometry and g) otoacoustic emissions testing.
Assesses the integrity of the auditory system by performing a) auditory brainstem response testing; b) auditory steady state response audiometry; and c) electrocochleography.
Assesses the function of the vestibular system by performing; a) electronystagmography or videostagmography and b) vestibular evoked myogenic potentials measurements.
Provides counseling and training for individuals with vestibular disorders and participates in the multi-disciplinary management of balance rehabilitation.
Determines audiologic candidacy for implantable devices, including but not limited to cochlear implants and bone anchored hearing aids, and provides pre and post surgical assessment, counseling and all aspects of audiologic treatment including auditory training, rehabilitation, implant programming, and maintenance of implant hardware and software.
Prepares written reports of diagnostic test results and recommendations and confers with the appropriate professionals regarding patient care and management.
Performs cerumen management.
Counsels, dispenses and troubleshoots hearing aids, BAHA's and assistive listening devices. This may include electroacoustic measures of the hearing aids and possible aided and unaided soundfield testing.
Provides tinnitus education, rehabilitation and counseling one on one or in a group setting. This may include but is not limited to testing for setting maskers or other therapeutic devices.
Makes custom ear products for patients.
Designs, implements and coordinates industrial and community hearing conservation programs, noise conservation services.
Basic Qualifications:
- N/A
- Master's Degree in Audiology OR Doctoral Degree in Audiology (Au.D.)
- Current registration and licensure in Audiology by the State of Colorado or eligibility for licensure in Colorado required.
- Certification of Clinical Competency in Audiology from the American Speech Language and Hearing Association OR ABA Board Certification in Audiology required.
- National Provider Identifier (NPI) and Taxonomy code required at time of hire.
