ABOUT THE ROLE
As an Additive Manufacturing Technical Manager you will collaborate with the Functional Manager for R&D Workshops Technical Development to deliver our product ambitions and to shape our Beyond100 strategy.
The Additive Manufacturing Technical Manager will be responsible for driving the wholesale adoption of AM across Bentley Motors.
The R&D Workshops Technical Development team is based within the R&D Workshop. It is split into 2 areas of responsibility:
- R&D Workshop Technical Support – Provides technical support to R&D workshops, including the build of new development vehicles & updating the R&D vehicle fleet.
- Additive Manufacturing – Develops & maintains a world class AM facility, accessible to all Bentley colleagues.
MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Overseeing the continued high performance of Bentley’s internal AM facility, via a set of KPIs.
- Managing the day-day workload of a team of AM Engineers, Technicians & Operators.
- Finalising the inputs into the planning, construction & commissioning of a new AM workshop within Bentley’s Engineering Technical Centre.
- Developing & maintaining specialist AM training frameworks.
- Lead Improvement activities across the business, looking to further increase the adoption of Additive Manufacturing in Bentley’s processes & products.
- Mapping new business processes, identifying the critical path for AM.
- Managing R&D research projects in the field of AM, in collaboration with external partners & other VW Group brands.
- Represent Bentley at VW Group & Industry level AM Events, identifying new technologies, materials & applications.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
The successful candidate will be will be a Manager with extensive experience in the Additive Industry.
- Experience with both Metal & Polymer AM hardware and software.
- Prior experience with delivering end-use AM components.
- Ability to deliver transformation projects, and implement new technologies.
- Excellent presentation skills, comfortable presenting to large audiences.
- Ability to communicate clearly & precisely at all levels.
- Experience of automotive engineering systems and processes is preferable.
- A qualification in Design or Engineering or equivalent experience.
