Job description
Rec Room, a live music bar & restaurant, is looking for an experienced and competent Sound Engineer to run our concerts from start to finish. The Sound Engineer will be responsible for working closely with local promoters, artists and their crew from pre-show advances, to-day-of show production and post show clean up. This position will be responsible for updating in house production procedures and ensuring all production equipment is inventoried and kept in good working order.
The job is full time, with pay ranging from $20 - $25 per hour depending on experience. Hours range from early afternoon load in's till about midnight for load outs. No late nights. Overtime available if interested.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Have and maintain in-depth knowledge of audio and visual effects equipment.
- Ensures all equipment is in working condition and prepared for nights to keep events on running on time
- Manages and controls audio, moving lights and special EFX throughout the evening
- Trouble shoots technical problems throughout the night and can handle escalations calmly and professionally
- Coordinates with other team members on the moving parts of event production.
- Works with the artists and their team to achieve ultimate sound quality and effects.
- Performs other production related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent observational skills and attention to detail.
- Basic computer skills.
- Self-starting, able to work independently and driven to anticipate issues and improve systems.
- Outgoing Personality. You are working with all types of personalities, it's our job to make artists and guests feel comfortable when visiting the club.
- Keen ear when it comes to mixing live sound
Education and Experience:
- At least 2 years experience mixing sound in a live concert setting.
- At least 2 years experience working with an M32 board or comparable digital board
- Previous experience running shows on their own
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift or carry 50lbs in a range of motions.
- Prolonged periods of standing monitoring assigned areas.
