AUDIO ASSISTANT

Responsible to: Technical Operations Manager
Job Purpose
Working closely with Tech Ops, Track Lay and Dubbing Mixers and Technical Operations Manager to ensure the continued efficient operation of the fluid and fast paced post-production process. Fulfil all Technical Operator tasks while also supporting the finishing departments and creatives with a focus on audio.
Main tasks and responsibilities
- Liaise with technical supervisors, bookings & post-production producers and ensure work is correctly undertaken.
- Undertake work covering all areas of the facility in a technical role when required e.g., Ingesting, media back up, playout and mastering, file delivery etc. But be the lead contact for creation of audio assets building a strong relationship between audio and support departments.
- To provide technical support and first tier troubleshooting when needed. And be the lead contact for audio-based support.
- Have a strong understanding of audio-based hardware, including DAWs (especially ProTools), Audio Control Surfaces and physical connectors and routing.
- Strong understanding of audio theory and delivery formats / standards such as Stereo, 5.1 and Atmos. Loudness and RBU R128.
- Be able to take on delegated tasks from Track Layers and Dubbing Mixers. Such as Loading sessions, preparing for VO sessions, and bouncing stems.
- To be proactive in the pursuit of training with members of the Audio team where appropriate
- Communicate clearly and efficiently with team members, post producers and other staff members through email, handovers, rushes logs and other administrative means
- Keeping abreast of new standards and workflows, including relevant operational technology implemented within the department.
- Being fully aware of the use of technology within the facility and reporting any faults to engineering.
- Client-facing and provide tech support and advice for production when necessary.
- Ensure correct standards are followed from ingest, to edit and to final delivery to broadcasters. Other Duties
- Partake in training & support for junior members of the team.
- Be a senior point-of-contact for your area of work.
- Attending relevant training identified to ensure duties are performed efficiently.
- Undertake ad-hoc tasks delegated by Audio department.
Requirements
- A minimum of two years' post-production experience in the industry with a demonstrable track record of success.
- Extensive Avid Media Composer knowledge.
- Experience working across a range of genres.
- An excellent knowledge of post-production tapeless workflows, technologies, and terminologies.
- Good numeracy, literacy and writing skills.
- Basic knowledge of ProTools and S6 Control Surface.
- Knowledge of ScheduALL software. A good practical knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software and database
