Chorley's Auctioneers are looking for a pro-active auction house assistant / porter to support the Saleroom Manager, providing assistance with consignments of antiques and collectibles and saleroom management.
The position will involve handling and carrying of furniture and antiques so physical fitness of the candidate will be essential to the position.
Duties will include:
- Performing of duties according to directions from the Saleroom Manager.
- Unloading deliveries and placing items according to directions. Ensuring all items are labelled according to receipts and stored in appropriate category locations depending on sale dates proposed. Deliveries and handling may include large and fragile objects such as furniture, paintings, ceramics.
- Keeping storage areas organised and tidy.
- Assisting specialists during cataloguing.
- Labelling items selected for sales with item/lot numbers according to sales schedules.
- Assisting our current photographer. Training will be provided.
- Assistance during sale days to set up the saleroom, collections.
- Performing Health and Safety related checks and upkeep.
Basic Knowledge of Microsoft Office. Outlook. Computer literate.
