Job description
Our in house legal team want to appoint a Commercial Lawyer (Legal Advisor) to assist the Senior Legal Counsel – specifically Commercial & Procurement in the drafting and negotiation of the Bank’s third party supply and services agreements.
Main Responsibilities- negotiating and drafting terms of agreement with suppliers and service providers
- ensuring that contractual and commercial risk is within Bank’s risk appetite
- working with Procurement and relevant departments across the UK in assessing business requirements and commercial and legal risk
- advising UK departments and (where appropriate) branches on contractual and commercial issues
- in conjunction with the Senior Legal Counsel, maintaining process for reporting and managing pipeline work
- drafting contract summaries for principal contracts
- keeping up to date with relevant changes in law
You must comply with 5 Conduct rules i.e.
- act with integrity
- act with due skill, care and diligence
- be open and co-operative with the FCA, PRA and other regulators
- pay due regard to the interests of customers and treat them fairly
- observe proper standards of market conduct.
- qualified solicitor in England and Wales with a valid practicing certificate and at least 5 years’ PQE
- extensive experience of working with commercial contracts in a regulated financial services environment
- good knowledge of FCA rules applicable to commercial contracts, such as requirements relating to outsourcing
- good knowledge of data protection laws
- good commercial contract drafting and negotiating skills
- experience of negotiating the terms of supply and service provider agreements
- ability to make sound legal and commercial decisions
- willingness to learn (especially as regards procurement)
- good communication skills with ability to communicate at all levels
