Career Grade Scale PO3 £42,510 - PO5 £51,783 per annum incl LW
Additional 8% Recruitment and Retention allowance for experienced lawyers subject to terms & conditions.

Lambeth Council has a number of opportunities to join a strong, experienced and innovative fast paced legal team as a Child Care Lawyer in a role where you will have the opportunity to establish and develop your legal career and expertise. You will work in an environment where you will be a team player in a busy and dynamic legal team.
The Council has a reputable in-house Advocacy team which provide advocacy, guidance, and training across the team to support the development of the wider legal team’s advocacy skills.
Main role:
We are looking for a qualified Solicitor or Barrister or Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives or equivalent relevant qualification with substantial child care experience.
The successful candidate will be a highly competent, qualified lawyer, with an in-depth knowledge of all aspects of Child Care law and a professional and organised approach to their work.
You will be responsible for holding and managing a caseload of child protection matters, including complex cases and ensuring that all work is of a high quality and delivered in a timely manner.
You will be required to provide legal advice to our Children’s Services directorate in accordance with the Council’s business needs. Those who wish to undertake their own advocacy, will be encouraged to do so at all levels of the Family Court, including the High Court and the Family Drug and Alcohol Court.
You will be supported in your role by a paralegal and be supervised and supported by the Child Care legal management team through regular supervision to ensure that all work is undertaken in accordance with the Council’s business plan and policies and that the Council’s high standards are maintained.
You will have a good working knowledge of legislation, current case law, court procedure and process, experience in drafting legal documents and legal correspondence, giving legal advice, gathering and analysing evidence, filing documents at court and dealing with the administration associated with litigation.
You will be competent at legal research and comfortable dealing directly with clients, solicitors, barristers and court personnel. The successful candidate will be highly organised with an ability to prioritise workload and able to work under pressure.
The successful candidate will be flexible and show an ability to use initiative, manage competing deadlines and work as part of a team.
