Job description
To be an assurance team member within the Datix Team with specific responsibilities to:
- Operate the Department’s incident reporting process and maintain confidential incident data on the Datix incident reporting software
- Provide support to the team and Datix users
- Meet deadlines as required for the processing and upload of incidents
- Support the wider Patient Safety agenda in specific areas
The main Datix incident reporting process covers:
- Reviewing, checking and coding incident reports as they are reported,
- Informing other NSFT staff and departments of all relevant incidents
- Sourcing any missing or additional information and adding to incidents
- Final processing after sign-off by appropriate managers
- Preparation of data for the National Reporting & Learning System upload
- Providing support to staff in the use of Datix either via the telephone or in person
- Subsequent updating of incidents on the Datix incident reporting software
- Supporting the follow-up management of incidents
- Meeting one-off requests for data/reports as they are requested
- Splitting incidents as needed to cover all Sub Categories required for the incident
- Using the patient records system to search for missing information and updates then add to incident
- Housekeeping and data quality tasks on the Datix incident reporting software, including the removal of any duplicates from the system
- Meeting internal and external deadlines for uploading data to Government bodies
- Assist other members of Datix Team
- Produce and send letters to staff following assaults and report incidents to Police
- Central Alerting System
- Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations (RIDDORs)
- NHS Safety thermometer
