The Role
The Role of Associate Test Engineer is an introductory position someone starting their career within test engineering in the financial services sector.
- You will be focused on working within a team of multi-disciplined engineers to deliver compelling customer experiences and products across all our customer channels.
- You will be provided with training and coaching to build your understanding of testing, automation and associated practices and techniques in areas such as: -
- UI - Selenium (or Cypress.IO or Playwright)
- API – Rest Assured (Postman or Soap UI)
- Mobile - Appium
- Test Development – Cucumber, Gherkin (BDD)
- Languages – Java or JavaScript
- Containerisation – Docker
- Web Services - AWS
- Continuous Integration – Jenkins
- SCM - Git
- You will work as part of a team developing effective tests using test techniques and heuristics covering a range of quality criteria with guidance and support from our senior engineers.
- Provide comprehensive test results to inform quality position of the delivery to your team
- Utilise agile test approaches to enable early and continuous delivery of software
- Identify, raise and respond to defects with accurate information to support resolution
- Your technical skill set will develop using formal testing techniques to deal with code deliveries from 3rd party and in-house development teams.
- The team is at a critical juncture, with new technologies, tool sets, and frameworks reshaping the landscape of our customer’s experiences. The successful candidate will have a strong desire to learn and play with these new tools and will be assisted by senior test engineers to aid their test creation and execution processes.

- Experience of agile environments with a focus on embedding a continuous testing approach into the SDLC
- Be able to manage your own time and be able to schedule tasks based on priority – for the bank, for the department and for your own development
- Strong communication skills – verbal and written

- Mobile apps
- Online Banking / Websites
- Mainframe applications
- Microsoft Office suite
- Jira and Confluence
- Test Management tools including defect / bug tracking
- Test Development – Cucumber, Gherkin (BDD)
- Test execution – using tools and formal techniques
- Reporting progress
