The Role
We have great opportunities for Associate Skilled Operators to work on complex, innovative and world leading projects such as Typhoon, Hawk, F-35 and FalconWorks. Join us and you will be working alongside other functions to deliver products that will be in service for 40+ years and be continually upgraded to maintain Customers Air Defence capabilities.
As an Associate Skilled Operator, you will be conducting tasks across a number of activities which include Carbon Fibre Composites, Fabrications or Fitting. These roles could be working across various shift patterns, which may include nights.
What you’ll be doing:
Associate-skilled activities relating to the manufacture of one of the following:
- Composite structures - includes Ply-Cutting, Lay Up, Curing, De-Bagging, Rout Profiling and Repair.
- Complex fabricated details, SPFDB assemblies, Pipes and associated bench assemblies - includes Profiling, Chemi-Etching, Drilling, Forming, Diffusion Bonding, Welding and Assembly.
- Small sub-assemblies in a workshop environment working with bench or floor mounted sub-assembly jigs and tools (including component finishing i.e. frazing).
All of the above will involve the completion of repetitive manufacturing tasks in line with technical information such as engineering drawings, process instructions and specifications.
You will also be expected to perform duties within the areas of responsibility in accordance with current Health and Safety and Environmental Protection legislation, and in compliance with the Quality Management System.
Your skills and experiences:
Essential:
- Previous experience relating to the roles being advertised
- Manual dexterity skills and proficient in the use of hand tools
- Understanding of Tool Control, Tool calibration and Foreign Object Debris (F.O.D.) procedures
Desirable:
- Manufacturing experience in an aerospace or neighbouring industry (e.g. Automotive, Maritime, etc.)
- Basic IT skills
